An extraordinary year has seen extraordinary changes, some for the better, however, there is a recognition that 2021 will bring its own challenges. Although we have heard a lot, it would be crazy to argue anything but the fact that 2020 has been unprecedented. But amid the gloom and doom, we have also seen something positive – an incredible acceleration of changes that were long overdue. A remarkable year calls for a remarkable response because if the last few years, in particular 2020, have taught us anything it’s to expect the unexpected. Few companies in their 2020/21 business plans would have included a pandemic as a threat to their business planning. How is business going to change and respond to the different agendas so as to ensure that the new business environment is fit for purpose? The AAI welcomed Jim Power and Chris Johns who shared their observations on what has happened, what is happening and what might transform this new business landscape. Both Jim and Chris were the co-authors of Marketing Multiplied, the World Federation of Advertisers award-winning publication, championed by Alan Cox of Core with the support of the AAI.
